I forgot to note that last night Jess decided to label her roomates. Gen is the beauty, Becky is the studious one, and I am the ethnic one. First of all, I'm not at all offended, no wait a minute I am! ;)
It's all in good fun and I take it that way but really? "The ethnic one"? Technically I do have an ethnicity but come on isn't there a better category you could place me into Jess?
Later on I was re labeled (not that I was complaining) as the cultured one. Well thank you Jess, but I need to increase the amount of culture in my brain since I am seriously lacking one at this moment.

Anyways it is still snowing in lovely Boulder, Colorado though the sun decided to shine down on the donut hole of Boulder county aka Lafayette, which is also known as the ghetto of Boulder county. Once you cross into Old town and go East of South Boulder rd is where you hit the ghetto.
Now I didn't grow up in East lafayette, I grew up on the west side. Yeah West side fools!!!!

I should start on my homework.
Dobbiamo cominciare i miei compiti
Je dois commencer mes devoirs
我应该开时做我的作业。

On a wierd note; had a dream about working at the Lafayette rec center and Angie's Dad was working there....wierd! Oh and my previous supervisor changed his name from Tony to Carlito. I know very very strange.

On another note....
The first snow of the season has arrived, everything is covered when I woke up. Waking up to the arrival of fresh new snow always makes me happy as I take the silent moment in. There's no one outside, everything is tranquil, I feel a peace inside as I look at outside.
I don't know why I found snow to be romantic, it's a bit strange really...snow is cold and it melts away or sticks to your hair. WHen I look at the snow descending from the heavens I see that anything is possible. Cheesy I know, rather odd of me. Maybe it's because my love for snow is renewed again, it has returned to me.
I think I'm excited for my camera should be fully charged and I can be that little shutter bug again. I think my goal for this holiday season is a focus on the holiday spirit; in macro vision. I really want to get many macro shots of christmas lights and ornaments and then make Xmas cards.

I think I'm also looking forward to potential snowball fights, more hot chocolate, nesting with my roomates on the couch and watching Love Actually (and other holiday-esque chick flicks), baking goodies, walks in the snow, sking, and buying some new gloves (because Jess lost one of my gloves....so now I have a lonely left glove from North Face)

YAYYYY (: I'm not sure if I like snow too too much (having been exposed to it too much in Montreal), but snow during Christmas season is something magical, I agree.

If my parents allow me to go out sometime over break, can I come over to your apartment and we can make some snowman and then bake baklaa and then watch love actually?

That sounds just about perfect... (: I miss you! Hope to see you soon.

My journal entries are becoming significantly shorter as time goes on, maybe it's because of the amount of procrastination I have been accumulating. Though I will write more. For now I am trying to not to lose it because I have a few exams in the coming days. Friday I have two exams; Chinese and EALC...shouldn't be too hard, though I am a bit worried about my Semantics exam.....God I need to study.

So it was suppose to be a humble five minute walk to Denny's at midnight to fulfill our hunger...and gain a lot of weight ;) though no, it was nothing like that at all. As we were crossing Baseline/30th heading west to Denny's this truck clipped this biker and we saw him flip in the air, luckily the guy is alive and walking. The stupid truck almost hit my roomate Becky, though crazy enough at the time I said to Becky (who was walking ahead) "your eager to get that pie" and so Becky turns around. Just as she turns around to ask what I just the said, the truck tore through and ran away from the scene of the crime. I managed to catch a glimpse of the plate and it was Californian. All this time I thought my Dad was being a Bouldercentric jackass with his anecdotes and remarks on how Californians suck at driving. Well I guess that your theory was right on Dad, this asshole was from California and nearly ran us over. Then some guy decided to go on a wild goose chase after the truck....we have no idea where he is, hopefuly vigilante justice will do good.

It's a good thing that the biker is perfectly fine, he was really shaken up by the incident and asked us for a smoke, yeah no dice man. His bike is officially just fucked.

Californians; flashing yellow does not mean turn and run over a motorcylist and run away from the crime. That's low and plain stupid.

Dear Susan,

I looked at your pictures on flickr, the new uploads of old high school pics.

Is it weird to miss high school from time to time? It was sort of perfect in its own way. I LOVE college, but I miss high school.

...Sometimes.

Posted 10/28/2008 at 3:33 AM by jiyoon

@jiyoon - no I don't think so ...from time to time it is good to recall those memories that we all had together, but obessing over high school is not good.
Finding a balance with everything is good
let's talk some more...hey write to me hehehe
....p.s can you buy me something in Canada land if I give u money?

So when I just watched CNN's analysis on the upcoming Vice Presidential debate and what they are saying about the use of language Biden need's to use to assuage voters and to avoid any notion of condescension towards Palin. I mean this should be common sense that language does affect your perception towards a person, but I've been an idiot I suppose.

Anyways more later, I've got homework to catch up on.

Were not perfect
yet they think we have to be
these hopes and aspirations
meant to be good
but have spoiled
and turned into greed
pride
Getting help is considered a burden
pride and stubbornness clouds the eyes
that is fixated on the young
one fault
and we as people are considered
'mistakes in their life"
we beg
and plead for forgiveness
but instead
guilt
shame
blame
is put on our shoulders
we work
we realize
mistakes happen
and we learn
we try
but it's not enough
to satisfy the hunger
of the elder
who wants good
but exhibits
the bitter pessimism

exhausted this is
redundant
heart breaking
suffocating

the brain starves
the heart starves
how it cries
itself to sleep
embedding the screams
and guilt into the mind
letting it echo the
hatred
and rage
for hours on end

the heart cries
how it longs
for the love and warmth from
the people it cares
the people it loves

escape
the word sounds reasonable
but does it resolve the storm?
where does one go?

I love my new shoes
Posted 6/25/2008 at 12:23 PM

I think that today was also another good day, and why is that?
1) Went to class (just the lab)
2) deposited some money
3) ate a panini
4) bought stuff
5) volunteered my time for Obama
I served food with Marian, and Jessica from 4-9 pm and there were hundreds of white people, white rich people might I add at this beautiful modern house right by Fairview, and I"m surprised I never noticed this beautiful house. Anyways, the first thing we did was we got picked up at Fairview and the lady complimented our attire (black dress pants and polo shirts) I love my shoes; Anne Klein wedge heel loafers. I feel sexy.
So we get there, and we are amazed by this house that is pretty much like the ones in films, it felt like a modern art gallery and the most spectacular view of the Flatirons. The first thing that we noticed was this guy who was prepping up food in the kitchen, his name we later discover is Padriac. He was cute.
So we helped prep up food, make everything ready for war!
We served food basically. and then I noticed the guys who were bartending (Padriac, John, and Nelson) Nelson was very attractive, and I brought hor d'oeuvres over to them because they were always making drinks and never got a chance to eat. I brought food over and Nelson was thrilled by the site of food, and I said to him, "i'll bring other delicous things for you guys"
and he winked at him and pointed at me.
So I continued to serve food and migrate to the bartenders, and Nelson made me a drink which he poured in a 'special cup' aka soda can. It was good, and he thought I downed the entire drink, but I didn't.
We talked about college, life, volunteering for a bunch of white stingy people, and I was just flirting with him.
He saw Marian, and I said that she was my friend (when she wasn't there we were talking about...wow big mistake for volunteering...and we thought it would be fun...)
and then he said "hey come back later when ur hands are not full and i'll give u booze"
Marian thought ...and Jess thought the guys were so attractive.
I agree
so many
old
blond
over tan women with painted toe nails and open shoes...I don't need to see your feet

Tim called me during the time Maya obama was speaking, I was thrilled. We talked for a bit, he mentioned how beautiful Michelle Obama was, we talked about tomorow and he's coming to the lazy to see the match ...and we talked about chinese class...it was lovely

Whenever I begin to feel that my parents understand me and let me go on my own steady pace, that feeling dissapears . It crashes and breaks into a million stupid little pieces that I am forced to pick up again.

I try my best I really do, but I cannot handle doing several billion things at a time. It's my fault to get excited about multiple events or projects (gemini tendencies), but I am unable to take in everything at once.

Dad,
I guess it's my fault then. I'm sorry I am unable to play piano 1-2 hours day like I used to. Things change and I guess you can't really handle that. I'm sorry that I can't appease you anymore and that I am not your prizewinning daughter that you can display to all your friends. I thought you supported me with what I did, but now you're making me feel guilty over taking a break and letting me concentrate on college. I thought that you would be happy with my decisions. I know it sounds easy to handle summer school, a part time job and then a little piano on the side, but no it's not that easy. I really do enjoy playing piano, but I'm sick of this image that is fixated on me as a "musuem" to show off to your friends. I'm so tried of it. I just want to play piano for myself. As selfish as that sounds, I want to enjoy music. I want to see my friend smile and understand why I play a certain song for them because there is always an underlying message that I send out to them; I love you. Everytime I practice, you have to breathe down my back. I don't like that. Everytime I play for you, none of you listen. That's the problem with this family; no one listens to one another. You won't listen to me. I try to explain myself, but you won't listen. You tell me to shut up. You tell me to stop arguing with you when i'm not. I'm not trying to piss you off, I just want you to listen and try and empathize. Why can't you just understand how I feel? I'm upset. I'm hurt. I feel oppressed by your decisions. Why can't you just listen to me and hear about how much pain I have about the insults, the guilt tripping especially. There's so much in my life that I want you to know about, but you won't listen. You listen to my brother.
Appeasing you is not the solution. The solution is for you to stop being fixated over me. Dad, I'm busy. I work, I go to school, and then at the end of the day I am fucking exhausted. I just want to sleep. Later on I can focus on what I enjoy; language and music. Don't you understand what I'm trying to do? No you don't, because once again; you don't FUCKING listen. The fact that you keep guilt tripping me is annoying. I promised a friend to not let you get to me

Symbol: The Twins
Dates: May 21 - June 21
Star sign stones: Yellow Carnelian Agate
Compatible signs: Leo, Libra, Aquarius, Aries
Lucky Numbers: 3, 12, 21, 30, 48, 57
Color: Yellow

The Twins, incorporated in most of the mythologies of advanced cultures, represent the duality of Gemini. In the zodiac cycle, your mental element of air is added to the inner fiery life spark of Aries and the earthiness of Taurus to produce the third sign, Gemini. But the air (heaven) is above the earth and therein lies the split or duality. Your role is to use your instinctive mind and ambidextrous abilities to alleviate contradictions. Fortunately, diversity and variety turn you on. You enjoy mental recreation, but you also appreciate traveling in search of adventure and amusement. Curious and inquiring, you collect information and facts and can learn by osmosis.

Your keyword is COMMUNICATION. It's your bridge to understanding and unity. Your enjoyment of the use of words enhances your ability to converse. You are quick, perceptive, clever, playful and imaginative, and you express yourself to feel alive. Though your content may not be the most profound, your engaging manner and interesting tales charm your audience. Like air, you feel fresh when you can move around mentally and physically unrestricted. But when traveling, you're likely to take along beepers, mobile phones, laptop computers, portable radios and televisions, and remote controls. You like being busy, juggling two or more things at once. Boredom, censure or repression could make you impatient, restless, anxious, snappish, sarcastic, gossipy, cynical or nervously exhausted.

These vibrations are highly independent in nature and coupled with the influence of Venus means that your relationships will not always go smoothly as you require an unrestrained approach to love. No holding you back. You need a partner who can allow you the freedom to be who you are and to mix with the friends you choose lest jealousy becomes a wedge in this department of your life.

You are highly creative and may have discovered some artistic talents even from a very early age. It is quite likely you are supported by your family in this regard and should endeavour to utilise your gifts to the utmost. Your 24th year of life is significant for love and possibly marriage.

Horoscope

Sunday, June 15
Happy Birthday, Gemini! Playing it safe is a colossal bore as far as you're concerned. You relish throwing yourself into the thick of things and enjoy testing the edges of fate. Your versatility is earned the hard way - through experience. Your sense of irony and humor is entertaining and reflects your personal history. Your life, methods and words become a template for those who follow in your footsteps. Overflowing with rebellion when young, you become a wise voice of experience as you mature. You may choose to live abroad during the second half of your life. As always, hands-on experience is far more attractive than mere observation. You're fascinated by the age-old conflict between the rights of an individual and the good of the whole. You may study religion or philosophy later in life, as part of your ongoing search for meaning and decent explanations. You love to learn and are exceptionally curious. Even as a small child, you were anxious to speak, explore your surroundings and read. You may be multi-lingual, literary, or have a mellifluous voice. No matter what your physical size or strength, your mind is all-powerful. Interestingly enough, physical exercise may be an ideal way to recharge creativity, imagination and intuition. In your youth, you put personal heroes on pedestals. And in your maturity, admirers may put you on one. You may, however, come to see this sort of adulation and scrutiny as too confining. An intriguing blend of chutzpah and serious work ethic give you the power to scale great heights. Your name may eventually be associated with a place, event, or theory. To say that you're an original is an understatement - they actually did break the mold after you were born. Visionary, driven and intensely competitive, you do whatever is necessary to pull ahead of the pack and get there first. Most of you are focused and ambitious, and defined by your career and accomplishments. Even your social or private activities are powerfully imprinted by your ambition. A curious blend of plodding dependability and reckless impulse, you experience enormous highs and devastating lows. When you're good, you're world-class amazing; but when you miss your target, you may plunge into very deep, dark water. You require a loyal group of friends and allies willing to go the distance for you - whatever it takes. You're as strong as your weakest confidante. If you're able to put together a winning team, you're well on your way to Nirvana. Choose people that won't pander to your substantial ego. You need friends and advisors that are strong and loyal enough to tell you the unexpurgated truth. Your personality is strong - perhaps even overwhelming. You can control or intimidate friends, family or employees while they're with you, but may lose them as soon as they're out of your sight. Cultivate mutual respect in all relationships, and eliminate intimidation from your repertoire. No matter how thin your physique, your face may be somewhat round or broad. Most people find you very appealing, charismatic and impressive. People can't help falling head over heels in love (or at least in like) with you. Your abundant charm and intelligence make you a huge asset in everything from party planning to corporate management. You woo and win others' attention and respect, and manage to disarm nearly everyone you encounter. Diplomatic, fascinating and often urbane, you stand out among your many imitators. You set the stage, offer an example for others to follow, and then move onto your next act. Very few possess the finesse and appeal that come so naturally to you. You're very good in front of groups. No matter how large the crowd, your warmth is palpable from front row seats all the way to the back of the balcony. Your facial expressions make others smile. No matter what your appearance happens to be, you exude something so lively and exciting that everyone wants whatever you're selling. You have an affinity for children and animals. Your childlike wonder never deserts you and makes you a magnet for kids. Your playfulness attracts animals. Because you're generous with your time and enthusiastic about your relationships, you're usually the first person to volunteer when something needs to be done. You are a treasured pal to those lucky enough to know you. As you get older, you tend to look younger than your peers - and get even better at what you do. You're usually quite thin while young, and may unfortunately get into the habit of eating all kinds of unhealthy fattening food. Once adulthood sets in, weight gain usually accompanies it. Exercise is great for weight control, and also excellent for your playful competitive nature. Born this weekend are Cookie Dash, Bridget Gilpatrick, Tim Allen, Christo, Paul Delisle, Robert Forrester, Bobby Freeman, David Gray, Howard Leese, Malcolm McDowell, Erwin Mueller, Ashley Olsen, Mary Kate Olsen, Jorge Santana, Ally Sheedy, Marvin Tarplin, Richard Thomas, Jamie Walters, Jerome Lejeune, Basil Rathbone, Samuel Taylor, Thomas Young, William Butler Yeats, Donald Trump, Yasmine Bleeth, Boy George, Che Guevara, Will Patton, Steffi Graf, Eric Heiden, Margaret Bourke-White, Pierre Salinger, Rod Argent, Renaldo Benson, Marla Gibbs, Daryl Sabara, Alan White, Brian Willis, Mervyn Winwood, Dr. Alois Alzheimer, John Bartlett, Harriet Beecher-Stowe, Burl Ives, Jerzy Kosinski, Dorothy McGuire, Junior Walker, Sam Wanamaker, Shirean Harrison, Jim Belushi, Michael Britt, Courteney Cox, Mario Cuomo, Helen Hunt, Ice Cube, Leah Remini, Polly Draper, Marshall Field IV, Julie Hagerty, Johnny Halliday, Neil Patrick Harris, Xaviera Hollander, Ruby Nash, Steve Walsh, Erick Erickson, Erroll Garner, Waylon Jennings, Jack Kapp, Harry Nilsson, David Rose and Jim Varney.

Biking around Boulder

Tuesday April 15, 2008
As I got out of Italian class I let my entire body bask in the glory of a beautiful day, the climate was perfect, a breeze hit my face and I was therefore content with everything.

Later this afternoon I went on a bike ride. On this journey into downtown Boulder I purchased a new helmet at Performance bikes which fits my head :-D, I am quite content with that too. Later I trekked into Pearl St to Bart's CD shop to sell some crap I mean some CD's that are that beneficial to my collection and a Bruce Lee Dvd.....good lord. So I flipped through the records and inhaled dust that rose as I flipped record after record searching for something my Dad would enjoy, but to no avail. Result of Barts: I got $7 in-store credit...Bruce Lee movies sell big I tell you.
I step out of the store with the heat of the sun attacking me head to toe and that was when I noticed the words "gelato" next door. I thought to myself, I've never seen this place before...it must be new....and there's gelato....I'll go get some...fuck yeah"
Of course there was a line, but luckily it wasn't that long. I was a bit hesistant to get gelato, but then I just went for it. I waited in line and to my ear's surprise I heard strands of French being spoken by the people in front of me. I was excited, "French people!! Tourists....god should I speak to them or no?"
So....I took a chance and asked the old man who sat down on a stool "are you travelling?"
He didn't understand me at first, but then he realized I was speaking in French to him and that took him by surprise too.
Apparently my French is really good, so that's a boost to my esteem, I just got to do the following 1) talk more 2) learn more fucking vocab and...I should be set.

After I got some blackberry gelato (Yes that's right!!) I checked my phone and hah there was a missed call and voicemail...and to my ultimate surprise, the message was a frantic and stressed out Erin Robertie. I called back and ....well I got called out of retirement and tried to rescue them. It was like superman only I'm not that lame.

Erin: "I'm making a documentary about how we shouldn't legalize marijuana because it makes people waste their lives so I'm gonna go to Farrand field on 4/20 so I can document all the college kids who are wasting their lives away"

Susan: ....oh ...really? your gonna do that.......oh crap JUST KIDDING

*laughter ensues
Stott: that was pretty good Susan

...I don't do drugs....heheh

NEW ROOMATE!!!! YAY!!!!

Thursday February 28, 2008
Just to let everyone know...I have a new room and it's amazing. I feel so at home. Everytime I unlock my door with my buff card I open into a world of peace and happiness..my own realm with the comforts that I adore.

Anyways....
2nd semester of college is truly a thrill ride, there are certain things in life that you don't expect to happen, then again life is pretty much unpredictable. I kept thinking in fictions, which is stupid because nothing is written in stone. I kept thinking to myself; I'm going to live with a pyscho for the next few months until semester ends, this dorm experience will suck no matter what because none of my room mates talk to me. I compared to prison a few times..I couldn't really express myself, I felt certain restrictions imposed on me, which is utterly insane. Will Vill sucks on so many level...blah blah blah blah, though circumstances change and haha I have a new room and an awesome roomate (who also had a pyschotic roomate) ....so you do the math.

miserable child+miserable child (who both had pyscho roomates)=destiny. No???
When I receieved the e-mail that I could change rooms, I left toute fucking suite, packed that night and moved in the next day with the help of a friend and my "Mama" (though I usually just call her Mom or Ma(Mandarin)

...so I've just noticed some changes that have happened second semester

1) I actually have a better social life...I'm not in my dorm all the time doing homework and facebook. I've met new people..I finally stopped slacking and went to tango....I mean it beats doing homework on a Friday night. yeah I know I'm pathetic..no wait..I'm Asian.

2) I put my two of my loves on haitus when I entered University, which are; piano and photography. Why? well I thought that I needed to concentrate on my majors...I still can't believe that I'm double majoring and I'm not sure if this is even my decision.

I guess the Chinese major was to shut my family up from objecting from what I believe in. Though I don't need to listen to them, I actually want to do this; I want to learn archaic Chinese, I want to learn stroke order, I actually want to do calligraphy. But, I'm just overwhelmed with my families suggestions...and that is to triple or possibly quadruple major in the following
-Photojournalism
-linguistics
-music
-oh and Chinese...like that's not easy enough.
...My Dad is clearly insane when it comes to this, other then that ..he's still a crazy person with a friend who shanked a guy back in the 70's on a train and said "gimme my oil MOTHER FUCKA" ..then again I love him..when he's not 1) calling his ex-gf (cuz they're still friends..I just hate the bitch cause she said i was fat...LOOK AT HER ..if only I had a picture people would understand, but GOD THE WOMAN IS A FAT FUCKING BITCH) 2) being a walking contradiction 3) an angry fuck head..

*Ahem.....though the loves of my life have been awaken again, and now I realized that I do piano and photographia for my personal enjoyment. I love playing Debussy, I love playing Satie, I love playing Chopin..my mind is at complete peace and I fall in love with the beauty that is made from an instrument.

I think that beforehand, it was just to please my parents and suppress them from questioning anything that I do other than those two because they would just get caught up in this piano/photography frenzy. After my trip to Santa Monica and putting up my photos on my wall in my new dorm, I realized that I take photos for me, for my friends, for the sake of happiness.

Note:[Anytime when I go back home, I want to play some Satie or Chopin..or Tiersen, but I can't just play for pleasure. It's like a command, it's an order issued by the mandate of my parentals. So when that happens I just lose the enthusiasm to slide my fingers on the ebony and white keys and soar from octave to octave. ]

I realized that I should do what I want, what I believe in and not what my parents want. It sounds utterly pathetic of me to have just said that, but things are a bit different from where I'm coming from. I'm supposed to be an obedient, docile person and since I'm the oldest... and the first to attend university the amount of expectations are high. It's like "heyy no pressure but it's ALL ON YOU". Inside my brain I'm going "well..fuck thanks dude (Dad)"

3) I've noticed that there are so many stupid people at CU including ...yes including TA's. There I said it. No offense to my Chinese T.A, but wow come back to the U.S with better English under your belt...and you think you were confident to leave the mainland with that kind of ENglish...I'm really impressed by your courage though.

4)this city is not as liberal as it seems. I've had this discussion with a few of my friends and wow Boulder seems pretty conservative..or maybe a lot of people just have a foot up their ass. A few days ago in the Daily Camera, the paper published and article concerning local public school enrollment and how some kids got shut out from their preferred schools. With that in mind, surburban parents went off the chain and complained to the district that they can't get into the Boulder schools. Now why would you want to come to Boulder for a public education. I'll explain this phenomenon to you. Many Caucasian people outside Boulder (still in Boulder county) want to have their kids go to a school in Boulder to avoid diversity, to avoid the Hispanic population because then their children won't get a decent education. That's why my parents sent me and my little brother into Boulder....yeah call it racist please...someone just say it.
oh and now there's that article circulating around campus that is offending many people at this moment..everyone is complaining about the amount of discrimination towards Asians. I think Boulder was asking for it because..come on this place, this institution is one of the whitest campuses ....if you wanted more diversity..well then this city needs to be more diverse

5) Concerning the Asian hate article: I think everyone needs to get a grip and stop getting hyped up about an article. If this actually happened in real life, then I would do something about it. Otherwise enough with the fears and anger and resentment. I'm sorry if I'm sound like a fucking hypocrite..I'm not offended, I'm just weirded out by the fact that some people still have these ideas in their head..it's the 21st century!

I'm taking a "Issues w/Asian Americans" course...and my friend mentioned that it's best type of therapy for me ..I guess it is, because I've been having problems with self-identity. Am I Chinese American..American Chinese...Asian American? or just American...or Chinese?

Am I happy?
or am I just happy for the commune..? (family I mean)
what I'm doing in college is it for me or the benefit of my parent's pride?

It feels like when I do something for myself...it's to impress my parents and not anything else, and I'm confused as to whether I can have my own pursuit of happiness. I know I can, I'm just afraid at times to speak out for what I want, how I actually feel instead of just hiding or putting on a mask.

What am I afraid of? ...why should I be afraid anyways?
Why am I afraid of speaking out the truth..Why am I always toning down how I actually feel about situations...why am I so docile?

Why can't I rebel...
why am I so shy?

This is a question I've asked myself a million times. As the children of first generation immigrant parents, we're kind of a lost generation. But, the Irish, Italians, Jews, and Russian immigrants all had to go through it, so it's just a part of our culture growing up.
