Rumbling in the sky as the fireworks bombard the night sky. We are witnessing the60th annverseary of the PRC. This morning from 10-12 pm th PR showcased their entire military, walking in mass unison, saluting Tian'an men, and the party leaders. President Hu Jin Tao (while in a black sedan) saluted each military group with "Hello comrades, Comrades are hardworking!" while each section chanted back "Hello President or FOR THE PEOPLE!"
THe square was painted in a sea of red and yellow. 4 words were spelled out in red and the slogans switched at certain intervals. According to Sarah 16,000 people are needed for each character. The morning festivities went off with a beautiful start. Clear blue skies, crisp cool Autumn morning Previous nigh POURING rain. Government instigated. Cloud seeding. And my Dad and I thought mother Nature was being kind. Cloud seedin. I was wondering why it was such a beautiful dy. Damn YOU!
So far Sarah and I are suprised by the media's minimal coverage of the 60th. One small article in the BBC and the NYT. Wonder why it's so quiet
We just got back from a dinner of soybean paste noodles 炸酱面 and vegetarian dumplings 素菜水饺。 A big screen in the restaurant broadcasted the evening celebrations (yes even more partying) (and yes even more masses gathered in tian'an men dancing in unison +FIREWORKS)
I forgot to mention the revamped patriotic communist songs. good ol times.
