1:30 PM MTN standard time,
I enter the dentist's office to proceed with wisdom teeth extraction.
After the assistant's poked my right arm for a vein several times, and then realized that the valve was simply blocked, we were back on schedule.
"Any requests for music?" (what a luxury to have Pandora playing as they soothe you into surgery)
"Can I have Cinematic Orchestra?" I asked.
Right as the anesthesia set in, the theme song from "House M.D" began to play.
How unexpected, almost serendipitous really. The most fitting song as I am going to sleep while they begin to hack away at my jaw.
An hour later, I groggily awake from a comatose state, my vision foggy and desperate to return to a state of slumber. Unlike some of my friend's experiences with their wisdom teeth , it wasn't so painful. I did have puffed up squirrel like cheeks but not excruciating sufferable pain.
They prescribed several medications for me; Percocet, Vicodin, penicillin and Ibuprofen. The percocet was suggested in case of severe pain. So far I'm not writhing in pain (thank GOD)
For now, it's just a vicodin regiment, along with lots of mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, and those beloved milk shakes from "Sweet Cow" (in Downtown Lousiville).
Sweet Cow ( I love thee)
I am fully more appreciative of my local community now than ever. I think this has been a growing relationship of mine since I started earning a little more pocket money and socializing with friends who share the same attitude; eating well.
Discovering local eateries in Colorado is a delight for your tastebuds. There's so many fantastic small restaurants that put franchise places to shame. Rather than digesting the same, cookie cut outs like Ben and Jerry's or Cold Stone, the Sweet Cow in Downtown Lousiville offers a fantastic and sweet selection of ice creams & sorbets daily. From my past two visits (tonight and last week), their ice cream selection does change, but you're never left unsatisfied!
Tonight I had another milkshake; a blend of strawberry cheese cake and oatmeal ice cream (cinnamon) that was absolutely sensational. Alex had a Grand Marnier chocolate chip milkshake. How's that for unique?
When you enter the Sweet Cow, the nostalgia of the old fashioned soda fountains/pharmacy stores kinda hits you. There's swivel dining stools and the beats of James Brown's "I Feel Good" in the air while every customer dives into their cold sweet treat.
It's reassuring to know that while there are those giant ice cream franchises, people still appreciate the heart and soul of eating local. May the local revolution continue!
