First day of classes was greeted by a blanket of white. Snow fell in the capital again. Way to ruin the hope of spring and the recent warm weather we enjoyed during orientation. I had to tip toe through the slush and avoid getting water all over as bikers tried to zoom past. I know when school is back in session because campus is swept with people. [The past few months was a ghost town. I nearly starved (out of laziness) because the dining halls were shut down and locked up (with a chain on the door). Damn.] You also know when things are in full swing when
1) millions of kids swarm into campus
2) The vendors are out selling dumplings and soy milk in the morning
3) The screaming dumpling man is working the morning shift "HOW MANY??? SPEAK UP!!! SPEAK UP!!!! 3$ (worth)?? HERE YOU GO!!)
The first week at PKU is always a breeze because we only have one to two classes a day. Electives start next week and that is when we get the real feel of life at Beida.
With only one class at noon (which was really nice) I got to enjoy sleeping in. Sucks for all of you with the 8 ams. I guess being in advanced Chinese II does pay off. :-D. To make life even sweeter on the first day was when CIEE e-mailed me to pick up a package. A package?
A postcard?? From Barcelona???!! I jumped for joy. What a wonderful way to kick off my day. I love it Tim!!! Then I was told to go to Shaoyuan 7 to grab another package. WHAT???? As I saw the familiar handwriting and the USPS parcel box I was elated. It was from my Aunt Dora. I sounded like a little girl "THAAAANKKKKK YOU!!!!!!" I said to the clerk. She probably thought I had mental issues. When I opened up the parcel, out came such wonderful things. Granola, chocolate. You're too wonderful Aunt Dora. Thank you!!!
